cien, a retail event brought to you by sam.kirk, will arrive at Elephant Room on July 15, 2011. Elephant Room, 704 S. Wabash, will open it’s doors from 6-9pm for this one night only event.
sam.kirk is a painter, sculptor, freelance architect and designer that works with canvas, wood, metal and glass. The city of big shoulders certainly put a chip on hers and she uses it to create culturally relevant work that provokes not only thought but also spirit. kirk believes that art should be accessible to those who love it, particularly the community that’s the catalyst for her artwork.
“For cien I’ve taken pieces of my original artwork and I’ve produced everyday goods, like t-shirts, cards and prints, that anyone can afford to buy.” – kirk. The event will include merchandise that until now hasn’t been available for purchase including artwork, illustrations and framed prints. sam.kirk worked in conjunction with Elephant Room Inc., an art retail store that already sells her pieces, to create a special retail event that rewards her audience with, well, more art. To those who spend $100 or more, kirk plans to give away prints from her up and coming series “The Hunter” as a special thank you.
This event is not only a demonstration of kirk’s commitment to continue creating thought and culture provoking work, but also to make her art accessible to the community that inspires it.
